The Ritz-Carlton Nikko Accommodation Review | A relaxing stay in Oku-Nikko, combining Japanese tranquility and luxury

The Ritz-Carlton Nikko sits quietly on the shores of Lake Chuzenji.
Surrounded by the magnificent nature of Oku-Nikko, you can enjoy a special stay here, where Japanese aesthetics and modern luxury quietly blend together.

This time, we will introduce the charm of this hotel, which combines nature, design, and a rich variety of food. We will deliver real-life hotel experiences through our blog .

A special location in Oku-Nikko where history and nature intersect

The Ritz-Carlton Nikko is located on the quiet lakeside of Oku-Nikko, overlooking Lake Chuzenji and Mount Nantai .
This area has a history as an international summer resort where diplomats built villas during the Meiji period, and is home to World Heritage sites such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu , and has a somewhat sacred and sophisticated atmosphere.

The moment I stepped into the hotel lobby, a magnificent view of the lake and mountains like a painting spread out before me, and I felt like the pace of everyday life suddenly slowed down.

All guest rooms are spacious, measuring over 57 square meters. The minimalist space, stripped of all unnecessary elements, is equipped with a walk-in closet , allowing you to enjoy a comfortable space to reflect on yourself.

When I opened the window, a gentle breeze blew across the lake, and I was enveloped in a tranquility that seemed to calm my mind just by being there .

Architectural beauty blending Japanese and modern styles. A space designed to bring peace of mind just by walking.

The entire hotel is designed with a Japanese modernist aesthetic, using natural materials such as wood and stone, and the texture of the materials resonates pleasantly with every step.

What was particularly impressive was being able to walk around in a yukata and geta sandals, an experience that can only be found at Nikko, among all the Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world.
The yukata also had a modern and sophisticated design, blending beautifully with the tranquil atmosphere of the hotel.

Feel your body melt away in the exquisite hot springs

The hot spring area that guests can use freely can only be described as "exquisite."
There is a lounge space with quiet music playing, and a large public bath with the scent of wood. From the open-air bath, you can see Lake Chuzenji, and enjoy the different views in the morning and at night.

After your bath, a basket of mineral water and a towel will be waiting for you, and the hospitality shown down to the smallest details will remain in your memory.

Teppanyaki, sushi, and terrace lunches - the food satisfaction exceeds expectations

The hotel's dining options offer a wide range of choices, focusing on Japanese and Western cuisine made with fresh local ingredients . The Japanese cuisine in particular has a wide selection of sake, including local Tochigi sake , so you can enjoy pairings that go perfectly with your meal.

The quality of the sushi was particularly impressive . The taste was so refined that it made me forget I was in the mountains, and I couldn't help but gasp in admiration. The freshness of the ingredients and the skill with which they were prepared were on a par with those of top restaurants.

At Teppanyaki, each dish is beautifully prepared right before your eyes, and the aroma and lively atmosphere will stimulate your appetite.
The lunch we had on the terrace at Lakehouse was also a comfortable and luxurious experience, with the sound of the wind and the swaying trees serving as background music.

Breakfast is served in a beautiful set meal with a choice of Japanese or Western style.

For breakfast, you can choose between a Japanese set meal beautifully presented in a colorful wooden box or a Western plate filled with vegetables.
The menu, which makes generous use of local ingredients, is not only beautiful to look at, but also makes you want to take your time to savor the food.

Eating in the dining room with the morning sun streaming in was a time that made me feel both like I was resetting and starting anew.
